Dos and Don'ts of Natural Hair in Ghana

image
When naturals in Ghana ask me what to do or not do with their hair, I tend to smile because it means starting from the basic Regimen and sharing some dos and don'ts of natural hair in Ghana.
** Make sure your hair is at least damp before combing. Be sure to ditch the small tooth comb and use a wide tooth comb.
** Use a moisturizer as often as you need to and find ways to retain moisture. Our weather is usually dry for the most part of the year so look into moisture retention if you want to gain length. My new technique is to moisturize 3 times a day if necessary and deep condition twice a week if needed.
** Limit the use of shampoos. At least a weekly use is enough. As a natural, you can go without a shampoo for weeks if you have been using natural oils.
**Find a good sealant. Many of the so-called natural oils may not be enough to seal YOUR Hair. Some hair do well with grease eg Vaseline and Dax. So don't worry yourself with Natural oils all the time. One caution will be to clarify to remove build up from the grease

** Invest in quality hair products and tools. Don't go looking for those so-called natural hair products in the markets. We now have healthy hair products made in Ghana suitable for OUR Weather.
** Wash and Detangle your hair if possible before going for a braid or twist. Save yourself a setback from the hands of hair dressers who are used to straight hair.
**Read blogs for DIY products eg to save on detanglers.
**Trim your ends when needed. You can try dry trimming or wet one to see which one works.

**Using a regular conditioner isn't the same as a deep conditioner aka steaming cream. You ought to deep condition often to strengthen the hair as well as provide moisture.
**Keeps your ends protected. Dry ends lead to breakage and length lose so keep it from rubbing on your shoulders.

How I make forever Clair Skin care products work for me

I've heard ladies complain about the forever Claire Skin care products  not working for them. Well, I nearly became one until I tweaked how I use it and since then, it's been a jolly good ride. I started using the Forever Claire products in July 2013 or so. What I've been doing is to using a cleanser first before applying any of the products. Well, I discovered the reason why the product didn't seem to be working well on its own. When using the cleanser, I'll dab a bit of cotton in it to clean my face. Apparently, it wasn't the cleanser that was doing the work, it was the cotton. The cotton was getting rid of dead cells by acting as an "exfoliating" material. It was cleaning the skin surface. One evening, I skipped the cleansing and decided to follow Hubby's method of cleaning his face. I used my sponge to gently rub the FC product on the face. This face scrubbing technique left my skin feeling soft and smooth just like when I use the cotton and cl...

Herbs In Ghana: Bay Leaves

Today's post brings out another common herb found easily in the market. It is mainly used in preparing soups and stews and has a very strong sweet aroma. For Dandruff For the divas searching for a remedy for dandruff, use Bay leaf tea. Boil a quart of water, the remove the pot from the stove and add about 3 teaspoons of crushed bay leaves.  Cover the pot and steep until cool. The 60 Seconds Skin Care Rule

The 60 seconds rule regarding washing your face is a great technique that has been used by a lot of skin care addicts.  When washing your face, the one trick that can make a lot of difference in your skin is washing for 60 seconds! Once you apply your facial wash/cleanser/soap, you massage or sweep it around your face for 60 seconds. This allows the cleanser to penetrate the pores and clear the dirt off your skin. All the make up  can also be easily absorbed by your cleansing oil too. I began doing this technique a few weeks ago and it's definitely helped improve the feel of my skin after cleansing.  (check shop.ghanaianemprezz.com for all skin care products)
